Families & Children

Supporting Families for a Brighter Future

At AMRC, we are committed to building strong, positive family environments through early intervention and prevention services. Our Children and Parenting Support (CaPS) program helps children (birth to 12 years, and up to 18 for those with additional needs) and their families by providing resources, programs, and support focused on improving child development, health, and wellbeing.

We work collaboratively with parents and caregivers to create the best possible environment for children’s education, social development, and emotional wellbeing. Our team also assists families experiencing relationship challenges or domestic violence by providing intervention, mediation, counselling, and connections to essential support services.

How We Can Help

AMRC partners with key community stakeholders to offer education, training, and support programs for families from refugee and migrant backgrounds, including:

  • Parenting Education Workshops for CALD Families (metro & regional SA)
  • Introduction to Childcare Services in Australia
  • Practical Strategies to Navigate Parenting Challenges
  • Introduction to various available outdoor and other activities for families
  • Domestic & Family Violence (DFV) Prevention Training

We also serve as a trusted link between families and other services provided by organisations such as Parenting SA, Child and Mental Health Services, Parents Next, NDIS Services, Women’s Safety Services, SAPOL, Legal Services Commission, Women’s Legal Service etc.

Through our bilingual team and tailored support programs, we support families, promote positive social interactions, and celebrate cultural traditions while ensuring children’s safety and wellbeing.

Our Approach

At AMRC, we:

  • Design and deliver services in collaboration with our clients and communities with clear, measurable outcomes
  • Support a sense of belonging through culturally meaningful activities
  • Prioritize accessibility for families with complex needs
  • Collaborate with other services to strengthen referral pathways
  • Use evidence-based programs to provide targeted support
  • Promote innovative practices to service delivery
  • Offer flexible, accessible child and family programs
  • Ensure inclusivity for children with disabilities or developmental needs
  • Design services that reflect and respect cultural and linguistic diversity
  • Help children prepare for learning and life

Crèche & Playgroup Services

To support newly arrived parents and children, AMRC provides on-site play-based developmental activities during sessions. This allows children to explore learning in a safe, fun, and engaging environment while their parents attend our programs.

Our Crèche Services also act as a bridge to childcare environments, helping parents understand routines while offering guidance on:

  • The Australian childcare system
  • Immunisation & childhood development
  • Nutrition & wellbeing
  • NDIS & additional parenting topics

Children can also enjoy the Duck Library, where they are encouraged to develop a love for reading and language learning from an early age.

Where needed, we also connect families to external health services, including Child and Youth Health, local Community Hubs, and playgroups.

My child has become happier, even sings pack-up song at home. He learned it at the creche.

I can see a difference in my daughter: she cannot wait to get to the creche, she smiles a lot more now.

My children love to play with the toys. With five small children, I cannot afford toys at home.

When I needed assistance most, I found it at AMRC. I’m so grateful for the information and support…

With two autistic children, I have my hands full. Thank you for mentoring me through parenting information. I did not know I was strong enough. I have now embarked on a career pathway.

I enjoy the outing to Belair Park; it reminds me of the forests in my homeland.
