Our Story: Supporting People from Migrant and Refugee Backgrounds Since 1979
The Australian Migrant Resource Centre (AMRC) has been a trusted pillar of support for migrants, refugees, and humanitarian entrants for over four decades.
Our Beginnings
Since our founding in 1979, we have helped over 160,000 individuals and families transition to life in Australia, ensuring they receive the support, resources, and opportunities needed to thrive.
What began as a small non-government organisation (NGO) soon evolved into a leading settlement service provider, supporting new arrivals from all continents. Our focus has always been to help new arrivals adjust to life in Australia, build independence, and connect with both their ethnic communities and the wider South Australian society.
From welcoming the first waves of refugees in the late 20th century to supporting new arrivals today, AMRC remains committed to helping migrants and refugees build safe, fulfilling lives in Australia.
Our Journey: From a Small Office to a Statewide Network
