SA Refugee Week 2026
2026 marks the 40th anniversary of Refugee Week and communities across South Australia are invited to be part of it.
This year’s theme, “A Million Stories”, recognises the many journeys, voices and lived experiences that shape our communities. Every story contributes to the rich social and cultural fabric of South Australia.
Registrations for the official printed SA Refugee Week 2026 Program are now closed.
A digital copy of the SA Refugee Week 2026 booklet will be available here from mid-May, with printed copies available from our office.
The printed booklet will include a link and QR code to view the full event details on our website. You’re also welcome to register your event online to have it listed on our Events page alongside other SA Refugee Week events.
SA Refugee Week 2025
In 2025, SA Refugee Week saw the largest participation and number of registered events to date. Each year more than 80 events involving over 140 organisations, community groups, schools and councils take place across the state, attracting over 20,000 attendees.
From art exhibitions and cultural showcases to community events and school engagements, this year’s program is our biggest yet, shining a light on the incredible stories, contributions, and diversity in our community.
We sincerely thank everyone for supporting the SA Refugee Week 2025 initiative and for helping to highlight last year’s theme – Finding Freedom: Diversity in Community.
By celebrating diverse stories, contributions, cultures and communities, your events reflect the strength and richness of our community in South Australia.

What is SA Refugee Week?
Celebrating the contributions and achievements of people from refugee and migrant backgrounds.
SA Refugee Week is one of South Australia’s best recognised annual community celebrations. Throughout June there will be an array of exhibitions, cultural events, forums and community days that celebrate the achievements of refugees and their contribution to South Australia, while also raising awareness around the refugee experiences worldwide.
Each year over 80 events involving over 140 diverse community groups, organisations, schools and councils are presented and attended by over 20,000 people showcasing the refugee and migrant cultures and experiences in SA. These events are held across South Australia.
SA Refugee Week is convened by the Australian Migrant Resource Centre (AMRC) and guided by the voices of people with lived experience, with support from the Department of the Premier and Cabinet – Multicultural Affairs.
The SA Refugee Week Committee coordinates the Calendar of Events as well as the official Launch of SA Refugee Week, World Refugee Day and Youth Poster Awards Exhibition.
