Women’s Connection Project

The AMRC Women’s Connection Project, developed for women of migrant and refugee background, involve citizenship preparation and learning about Australian culture. Ms Ros Wong facilitates the citizenship sessions.

Mr Ali and Ms Aziza Rahimi have assisted to establish the Women’s Connection Project for refugee women of various backgrounds. Ms Rahimi, expressed that: “I am so happy that I started this citizenship workshop. Speaking and writing is my biggest challenge, as I attended only a little bit of school in Afghanistan. I am very proud of my husband Ali, who accompanies me to attend this workshop at the AMRC. He is setting a good example and encouraging other husbands to accompany their wives, while they learn about Australian culture and language. Gaining citizenship is very important to me because I want to belong here. Now there are also other people from my community and I feel very supported.”

This citizenship workshop is free and provides crèche for young children.
