Young Achievers

Congratulations to our Young Achievers for being recruited into the Australian Navy and Army!

JOB ZAHINDA
Job Zahinda is grinning from ear to ear. He is excited to be recruited in the Australian Navy. Job, together with his aunt and siblings were resettled in South Australia in 2016. At 21, he has achieved a lot as a young migrant. Job has actively participated in forums and consultations in the AMRC Youth Leadership and Volunteer Program. He was awarded the 2020 Young Migrant Achiever Award by the Australian Chinese Medical Association of SA. Job is currently studying Electrical Engineering at UniSA and is also training in swimming to prepare for his role in the Navy. He expects to commence his role in the Navy in 2022 and the AMRC is supporting him to achieve his goal.
“Thank you AMRC for giving me the opportunity to volunteer and train as a young leader. I am very inspired by the support and will continue to work hard,” Job says.
MOBARAKA
At 20-years-old Mobaraka was focused on getting into the army. Her dream was to be an army officer or a tank driver. She was resettled with her family in 2015 from Afghanistan and completed Year 12 in Naracoorte. She later moved to Adelaide to pursue a career in the Australian Army. Mobaraka applied and was accepted, however, due to COVID-19 the training process has been delayed. While Mobaraka is able to attend some training, she continues to volunteer at the AMRC as a bilingual creche support member.
“I cannot thank AMRC enough for providing me the skills for employment [through the AMRC Youth Leadership and Volunteer Program], without which I think I would not have got this position with the army. You have helped my career by preparing me for a job and I am thankful,” Mobaraka says.
