Women’s Honour Roll 2023
Steadfast support and service to migrant and refugee communities
We’re thrilled to share that our very own Cynthia Caird, Senior Manager, Community Services and Engagement, Women’s Empowerment and Youth Leadership, has been recognized among the exceptional women in South Australia, joining the prestigious SA Women’s Honour Roll 2023!
Cynthia’s dedication spans over 26 years, empowering refugee communities and fostering social cohesion through innovative programs. Her work has touched the lives of over 10,000 individuals from 50+ ethnic groups, emphasizing her commitment to inclusivity and support.
Among her many accolades, Cynthia was the winner of the Multicultural Governor’s Award in 2016, Community Sector Category. Cynthia was also a finalist in the Pride of Australia Medal, Fair Go Category in 2014.
Cynthia started her journey with AMRC as a volunteer and later was offered a position as a Filipino Community Services Worker, where she helped Filipino women and their families adjust to living in their new community in Australia. As the AMRC Community Services Manager, Cynthia primarily works with at risk refugee and migrant women and youth. Cynthia was also involved in delivering Domestic and Family Violence Training for community workers, as well as supporting women experiencing violence.
From her impactful initiatives supporting migrant women to establishing vital networks like the FILIPINA Network of SA and founding Filipino Aged Care to address aged care needs and issues for the Filipino community in South Australia, Cynthia’ s contributions have been transformative.
