Esther Latung was signed up for a job in Aged Care services this month.
“[AMRC] You have provided me the entry point to get a job through volunteering. Thank you for giving me a job reference so that I get the job.”
Having a qualification in Cert III Aged Care, Esther Latung still found it challenging to get a job as she had no Australian work experience. She was able to overcome this barrier through volunteering and mentoring from AMRC’s Women’s Employment In Action, Try, Test and Learn Program. She has volunteered as a Big Sister and linked young Burmese parents with AMRC’s Try, Test and Learn Program for women, Creche Services and Volunteering Program. She also supported a number of young people who participated in the Rebuilding Life After Migration study with UniSA.
