Raziq is from the Shia Hazara minority, a heavily persecuted religious and ethnic group of Afghanistan. After his family were the victims of distressing events in Afghanistan, they were eventually forced to flee. The family ultimately made the decision to migrate to Pakistan with the hope of living peacefully.
Raziq spent most of his childhood in Pakistan until life became unbearable with ongoing terrorist attacks on the Hazara population. Once again, Raziq was forced to escape. Finding himself in Indonesia at the age of 17, Raziq was isolated and deprived of work, pursuing higher education and permanent residency.
Earlier this year, Raziq successfully arrived in Adelaide under AMRC’s Community Support Program (CSP). With the support of his uncle, Raziq now has a place to call home. You can find him working at the Blair Athol IGA & KSM on Adelaide’s well-known multicultural Prospect Road.
We wish you all the best with your future endeavours Raziq!
