Glen Osmond Primary Students Donate Backpacks for Refugee Children
During SA Refugee Week, the Wellbeing Student Action team at Glen Osmond Primary decided to host a casual clothes event. They raised over $600 which all went towards making up backpacks for refugee children.
They were able to make 20 backpacks full of exciting items, including a lunch box, pencil case, coloured pencils, note book, story book and pens. The students wrote a letter and included an envelope in case the children receiving the backpacks would like to write back.
The Wellbeing Student Action team found the experience extremely worthwhile as they were able to put themselves in someone else’s shoes.
Glen Osmond teacher Sarah Ellis said that the students found the experience invaluable.

“I must say thanks to you for this amazing initiative and allowing our students to form a deep connection with a community organisation with the purpose of making a difference”, Ms Ellis said.

AMRC wishes to say a big thank you to the wonderful and inspiring donors. The backpacks will be greatly appreciated by the new arrival families!
