Social Participation
The AMRC and partners assisted with equipment, transport and facilities to support children, new arrivals and senior community members to participate in social activities.
AMRC Summer Sports for Young People:
The AMRC engaged young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds in group sports this summer. They participated in basketball and soccer with equipment donated by the Chin and South Sudanese Communities of SA and the United Liberian Women and the Al Sham Associations of SA.
Big Movie Days Out:
The AMRC in collaboration with Mercury Cinema under the South Asian Seniors Film Club organised two successful Movie Day Outings for new arrivals. The project was supported by the Office for Ageing Well, SA Health and the City of Adelaide and was the first time the participants experienced an Australian cinema.
AMRC Senior Social Group:
Every Tuesday between 11am and 12pm, the AMRC’s Senior Social Group meet at the Northern Area MRC to maintain an active and meaningful life through community connection and involvement. To celebrate Easter, the group were very happy spending time card making, knitting, doing puzzles and sharing their songs.
