Stories of Achieving New Australians

First Persian barber shop in the busy street of Salisbury

Mr Farhad Birgani has always been passionate about opening his own business in Australia. Back in Iran, he was a barber and professional soccer player. With the support of the Australian Migrant Resource Centre (AMRC), he resettled in South Australia in 2011 with his wife and child.

After completing his Certificate III in Hairdressing and adult apprenticeship, Mr Birgani opened the first Persian barber shop in Salisbury in August 2017. “I named the barbershop ‘Cyrus Barber Shop’ because Cyrus is very famous in Persian history. I want to provide my service to all people from Persian background and migrant communities in the north,” he said.
